GenFlex Roofing Systems has introduced another thermoplastic first -- the industry’s first 12' wide PVC membrane. Produced at our manufacturing facility in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, GenFlex contractors now have the ability to install both GenFlex RM (PVC) and TPO in 12' widths.

Like its 12' TPO counterpart, the 12' GenFlex RM system delivers lower installed cost advantages in both mechanically attached and fully adhered systems. Compared to current competitor membranes available in widths up to 6.5', the GenFlex RM system has almost 50 percent less seams and 50 percent less rolls to handle. With GenFlex RM, 12' wide sheets add up to significant savings.

“Thermoplastic systems continue to outpace all other types of commercial low slope roofing products,” says Jim Burkett, national product and marketing manager. “From “Cool Roof” solutions to lower installed cost options, thermoplastic systems are very attractive to architects and building owners.”

When combined with GenFlex single weld or dual weld seaming technology, the system choices meet most building design requirements for Factory Mutual or Underwriters Laboratories

The Berkshire(TM) Collection from Owens Corning Provides Upscale Roofing Alternative for Residential Architects, Contractors and Builders

Today's Date -- 1 / 24 / 2003

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Looks can be deceiving. With the introduction of Owens Corning's newest roofing line, the Berkshire(TM) Collection, residential architects, contractors and builders now have the ability to give homeowners the upscale look of slate with the durability and performance of an asphalt shingle.

"As homeowners are increasingly investing more time and money in their homes, it is more important than ever for contractors and builders to have the right products and resources to meet consumer needs," says Sheree Bargabos, president, Exterior Systems Business, Owens Corning. "Through innovative technology, the new Berkshire Shingles provide the latest in roofing quality and style to meet homeowner demand for distinctive exterior design and performance."

The Berkshire(TM) Shingles allow residential architects, contractors and builders to offer their customers a single shingle that satisfies the consumer trend of combining beauty and performance in housing. Through unparalleled aesthetics and functionality, the new shingles and matching hip and ridge set the bar in the growing super laminate category.

These dimensional premium laminate shingles offer a combination of seven colors found in natural slate, as well as five unique designer colors. Additionally, unique color tabs provide a distinctive look that integrates shades together to match the shingles with the home's natural surroundings and architectural style to create an impressive look and make a statement through the exterior of the home.

"The Berkshire Shingles' layered design and soft backgrounds combine to create a dramatic rooftop and add character to any home," says Bargabos. "In addition to the aesthetic advantages, the new line of shingles also offers great performance."

Backed by a limited lifetime warranty with 15 years Tru PROtection(TM) coverage, Berkshire(TM) Shingles feature exceptional resistance to algae and high winds. To ensure the roof stays over their heads but not on their minds, this superior warranty offers homeowners a 15-year algae resistance warranty and 110 mph wind warranty when applied as directed.*

Finishing Touches

A roof not only makes a bold statement to the exterior style of the home, but it also can be the most important investment that any homeowner can make in their home. That's why Owens Corning offers a complete Berkshire(TM) Roofing System that gives a roof the finishing touches and the protection it needs for a lasting impression.

For optimal performance, the Berkshire(TM) Roofing System includes:

Berkshire(TM) Hip & Ridge Shingles -- Specifically designed for the Berkshire(TM) Collection, the Hip & Ridge adds peak performance and extra character to the most sophisticated roofs. The unique shingle construction also adds extra dimension and protection. Berkshire(TM) Hip & Ridge shingles are available in all the Berkshire(TM) Shingles colors.
Weatherlock(R) Waterproofing Underlayment -- To insure an investment in the roof, the underlayment provides protection to the roof's surface by helping to prevent leaks from wind-driven rains and ice dams from seeping through to the roof deck.
VentSure(R) Ventilation Products -- VentSure Rigid Roll, VentSure Rigid Strip Ridge Vents and other ventilation products enhance the roof's appearance while helping to keep air moving through the attic, balancing the outdoor and indoor temperatures thus resulting in a healthier longer lasting roof.

A home's exterior consists of several components including siding, roofing, ventilation, gutters and trim. As an exterior solutions provider, Owens Corning is the only manufacturer that offers a complete Exterior System featuring all the components needed to create a beautiful exterior.

Owens Corning is a world leader in building materials systems and composites systems. Founded in 1938, the company had sales of $4.8 billion in 2001 and employs approximately 19,000 people worldwide.
